Dedoplistskaro municipality is located in the extreme eastern part of Georgia, at the border with Azerbaijan, on the lofty plateau between Alazani and Iori river beds. The area of the territory is 2 532 km2. From the north-west and the northeast, it is bordered by Sighnagi district and from the south-east by the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The population of Dedoplistskaro Municipality as of January 1, 2015, is 30 871, including 31% of urban and 69% of rural residents. Population density is 12 people per square km. Rural population density is 8 people per square km. The municipality includes one urban settlement-city of Dedoplistskaro and 13 villages, which are united into 11 territorial bodies.
